Notorious Punjab don Dimpy shot dead
CHANDIGARH: Parbhjinder Singh alias Dimpy, 42, a notorious Punjab criminal who was facing over a dozen charges, including contract killing and abduction in different cities, was gunned down by two motorcycle-borne assailants here on Friday night.
Police said Dimpy, along with some of his acquaintances, was at the Lake Club when his friend Harneev Kaur reached there in a Swift (CH03S-4083), and he came out and sat in the car.

The motorcycle-borne assailants fired at him and sped away in no time. Dimpy suffered five bullet shots, out of the seven fired. Kaur also suffered bullet injuries in her hand. She has been admitted to the PGI.
The UT police are attributing the murder to gang rivalry and political enmity. Dimpy had friends in criminals-turned-politicians like Mukhtar Ansari in UP, and RJD MP Mohammad Shahabuddin in Bihar, and a few in Punjab too.
After coming out of Lucknow jail on bail, he was being wooed by the Congress and the state opposition SAD to contest Punjab assembly elections next year.
